Can anyone recommend some good parenting books for first time parents? I already have, "What to expect when you're expecting" and "What to expect the first year." I am looking for some books that go more in-depth about labor/delivery, newborn care, and parenting in general. All suggestions welcome! TIA!
Re: Good parenting books for FTM?
I'm a FTM but have enjoyed The Happiest Baby on the Block for newborn calming. there is also a dvd.
it came highly recommended by the birth classes I took as well
Try "Expecting 411" and "Baby 411". They are so much more interesting and modern than "What to Expect..." I also love "Brain Rules for Baby".
This. Great book!
For labour/delivery I really Ina May's Guide to Childbirth, but I was (am) really into having a natural birth. I found it really helped to explain what was happening with my body during labour and there are some pretty positive (if a little hippie) birth stories in there.
For parenting I really liked The Baby Whisperer. They also have pretty informative online forums but the book helped me out a lot.

Eleanor Noelle - 18/05/12 Claire Elisabeth - 16/-5/10
Happiest Baby on the Block - Karp (dvd/download is better though)

The Baby Book - Sears
The only two I ever needed.
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living my baby you'll be.

I LOVE Baby 411. It has saved me countless times- I buy it now for all FTM's.
