Spotting after internal exam?

I am 39 weeks 1 day and after my 3rd internal today, I had some light bleeding. It kind of freaked me out. But it would make sense that would be normal due to the nature of what occurs? Anyone else have this?

normal.  your cervix has lots of blood vessels that run through it, and when the cervix is stretched (like when fingers get pushed through it) the vessels can leak blood.  you may spot for about 24 hours.

my first 2 internals i didnt have have any spotting... after my third (with a different doctor), i spotted for 3 days afterwards. doc told me ahead of time it would be totally normal if that happened.

My midwife said spotting, cramping, and soreness could possibly happen after an internal.  She then gave me the option of declining mine.  She went on to say that it really doesn't give her any info because you could go into labor if you are only dilated 1 cm or stay at 4 cm for a week.  She said that she won't make me get one until my due date or if for some reason I need to be induced.
