It reminds me of names like River, Forrest, Storm, etc. Except that I like those names 100x better because they evoke images of natural grandeur and power. A stone doesn't do anything and doesn't sound particularly interesting, so I dislike it because of that.

I like it, but I voted to keep looking. I think it's a strong name, but I think kids will poke fun, especially if your child turns out to have a more delicate nature. Unless he's a strapping young man, that name could turn out to be a hindrance. And he'll have a good chance to get called Stoney and Stoner his whole life.
If you're looking for nature I also prefer Forest or River over Stone. I don't think teasing is as bad as it once was because so many kids get unique names now but he might get a lot of "dumb as a rock" teasing.
I think a lot of it depends upon where you live. It's nms, but I wouldn't bat an eye at a Stone here in Portland with all the Canyons, Rivers, Forests, Oakses, and Nehalems running around. But if you live somewhere where Jayden, Brayden, & Kaden reign supreme he might have a harder time fitting in.
Brother's girlfriend's sister named her son this but put it as the MN (I don't like the whole use the MN as the name you'll call them thing as it is)... and when I heard it, I was confused. This isn't a name IMO. I said it isn't crazy though... if you and H love it, it is not the worst name you can come up with... but it certainly will get the side-eye a lot.
That was DH's favorite boy name, but it would sound really bad with our last name, so we nixed it. I like it though. Nice and strong. Different but not strange. I also liked the name River.

Stone Phillips...
Or the expression "dumb as a rock"
I think of Stone Phillips, whom I like. But I wouldn't use it as a FN.
What about a name/cool word that means stone? Like Petra or Mason?
