Adam James or Austin James?

Adam is my brother's name and James is DH's brother's name. He likes Austin and I like Adam, although we like them both.

Also, if this is a girl it will be named Shelby Lynn. Yay/Nay? Siblings are two boys named Seth & Murphy.

Shelby isn't me lol. DH is OBSESSED with mustangs and cars in general. It was the best he had. I could list his other names he wanted but they are really scary

Another vote for Adam James here. Shelby is just ok, I don't hate it or anything. I always think of Shelby from Steel Magnolias (Julia Roberts).

I appear to be in the minority here, but I love the name Shelby Lynn. It was actually my brother and SIL's number one girl name but they ended up having three boys : )

I like Austin better, but like the meaning behind Adam better, so Adam gets my vote.

Shelby is not my favorite, but I think it works with your other childrens names.

I don't know if you care, but Seth was a son of Adam & Eve in the Bible. It wouldn't stop me from using them both in a sibset, and I'd pick it over Austin.

I loooove Steel Magnolias and Shelby makes me think of that. Shelby Lynn reads pretty Southern to me, which is totally fine. I think it's super cute.

I prefer Adam James, but I'm not really a fan of Adam or Austin really. Maybe you can come up with another A name you like that could honor both brothers? Like Alexander, Asher, Arthur, etc?

I don't care for Shelby...it sounds country to me, which is NMS.

Is your brother still alive? If he is, did you ask him about using his name? I would want to make sure he wouldn't want to name a future child after himself.

I like Shelby, but I'm from the South. Not a big fan of it being paired with Lynn; that is a bit too Southern for my taste.

Yes my brother is still alive and I did ask him, he does not want to name his kids after him but he did like the idea of me naming mine after him. He is kind of the outcast in my family but I am closest to him. He also doesn't live near me, we are on opposite sides of the country and rarely get to see each other.

My mom passed away two years ago and her middle name was Lynn which is where the Lynn is coming from with Shelby. My mom's name was Therese Lynn but I don't really like Therese because everyone always called her Theresa and that wasn't her name. Plus everyone in my family that has girls started using Therese as the middle name, my older brother to name one and 4 of my cousins have done it.
