Issues with Bum Genius newborn AIOs- prepping

I've washed my BG's 3 times now, with this cycle:

Pre-rinse: hot

wash/rinse: hot/warm

cold rinse

Tumble dry

Twice with no detergent and once with Charlies. I tested it after each wash and it's always the same -water is still beading up on the surface. Am I doing something wrong? The instructions say I should only have to wash once to prep.

Are you putting any pressure on the water when you test them? Remember that there will be a baby's bum pressed against the material and that will help the diaper absorb. Try putting a few drops on the diaper and pressing your hand against it, it should absorb then.
