i think i am pregnorexic

i just made that word up, btw.

but honestly, i have very limited appetite. in the morning i either force myself to eat or just plain forget until it's almost lunch time. i am worried. i am literally eating less now than i do when i'm not pregnant. has anyone else had this? i am worried about what it might mean...

Re: i think i am pregnorexic

  • I was totally like this!  Especially when I was pregnant with Sarah.  I just was never ever hungry and would have to force myself to eat.  I found that fruit, grapes specifically, would be the only thing satisfying to me.

  • i was like that a lot, especially in my 3rd trimester.

  • That was me exactly, which worked out since I was already a chunky monkey, and I was actually loosing weight. However my doc didn't think that was such a great situation and prescribed Reglan (?) to help the food which I was eating go down better.  I especially couldn't stand sweets or most carbs, salads were my friend (oh how I miss thoes days).

  • It is actually a used word, although mostly slang. But it's also a condition. If you start loosing weight your dr might be concerened. But it may be just a phase of the pg, I say just eat what you want when you feel like it. Unless you're hungry and turning down food you're probably ok.

Edit to Add: It could also mean you're too busy chasing a toddler and thinking about all you need to do to get ready for this baby that you forget to eat.

  • I was like this for 5 months.  I didn't really gain much up to that point, but didn't lose either.  My doc wasn't concerned.  The only way I ate at all was because of the zofran which did at times kick start my appetite.

maybe i just need to go to the black lab everyday....

joking aside, i eat fine when i go out. i think part of the issue is just being too tired to think about it. good to hear some other mamas felt the same way. of course i googled it last night prompting my husband to threaten an internet ban again...

Stop the googling ;-).  I eat way, way less this pregnancy than I did with Orion.  With him all I could think about was food and stuffing it in my face.  This time I'm not near as hungry and I'm really just too busy to think about it.  It's way different when you have a toddler running around keeping you active.  I'm actually glad I'm not eating as much because I think I gained 10lbs too much last pregnancy.
