Have any of you who have gestational diabetes had your babies heart looked at?  I was diagnosed at 10 weeks for GD and now at week 22 they want to do an echo on the babies heart.

I think a fetal echo is standard. I didn't have GD last time and don't(that I'm aware of) have it this time and I will have had an echo done both times.

I did not have GD or an echo last time, but the peri wants to schedule me for one based on my age (40  -41 at delivery).

I have diabetes and had to have an echo done at about 20w. It was fine.  They just want to make sure that the elevated sugars haven't affected your LO's heart.  It's just a simple u/s.  Best of luck to you.  We were out in 15-20mins.  The doc did the scan and showed us every part of the heart and what he saw.  It was really amazing!!

With DS I was diagnosed with GD at 28 weeks, but never got anything other than Non Stress Tests. Perhaps because I had passed an earlier GD test?
