9 month check up

I posted on the 6-9 but realized it should be on this!

Just curious if anyone else had their LO 'jump' on the growth chart. My DD was born early and weighed 3lbs 4 ounces and has finally caught up(says the pedi). However, last November when they measured her head it was in 75th percentile and yesterday it was in the 91st percentile. She weighs 17lbs and is over 27 inches long, her head doesn't look big to me. At the very end of our appt the pedi says 'oh btw, we'd like to see her back in 4-6 wks to check her head again'. They said she is growing faster. Well isn't that normal seeing as she was preemie and is trying to 'catch up' to her age? Now I'm worried sick that she might have fluid on the brain!!

Anyone have a similiar situation??

First of all try not to worry. The chances of it being something are small but it is good they are being proactive just in case. When I had my ultrasounds with DS they said the fluid levels in his brain were on the high end of normal, I seriously cried every day for weeks and two more ultrasounds later they decided that it seemed to be holding steady so they weren't going to do any more testing. I still was scared when at his 6 month appointment he had a jump in his head size but it was the same percentile at his 9 month appointment and his length had caught up. I think my pediatrician said at the time sometimes the head goes thru the growth spurt first. DS also had a heart murmer which freaked me out but that too turned out to be benign and went away. They just want to make sure to check everything out so try not to think the worst, though I know that is easier said than done.

I had the opposite. DS dropped in percentiles. SInce the walls of the doctors office are really thin, I heard the nurse talking to the doctor about how much we feed DS. He eats. He eats all the time! My crazy kids just crawls all over the place and is always up and down.

I think parents tend to freak out about anything out of the ordinary. I'm sure your little one is ok. They just want to keep an eye on it to make sure.

    Thank you!

Of course I had to google it and it made me a nervous wreck. The Dr. did say that because she was a preemie that they play catch up alittle fast.
