Dumb genealogy Q re:cousins

What would my cousins be called in relation to my children?  And their children to my children? I can never remember how it works.

Your cousins would be your children's second cousins. 

Your cousin's children would be your 1st cousins once removed, and your cousin's children would be your children's second cousins once removed. 

 At least that's how I understand it. My mom did lots of geneology research for our family.

I believe that would be first cousins, once removed. Your children to their children are second cousins. I could be wrong, but I think that's it.

Your children and your cousin's children are second cousins.

 Your children and your cousins are first cousins once removed. 

The "once removed" part refers to generations - your children are one generation removed from your first cousins.

We never did the once removed stuff...we just said second, third, fourth and so on...cousins.  I have 5th cousins because my parents were quite old when I was born and they had 4th cousins.

All that stuff confuses me... I'd just call them cousins!
