So after my one and only failed IVF we met with the RE last week. He pushed DE eggs which I knew he would. I do like my RE and havenormally no problems with him. I talked with him about mini IVF and his thoughts. He was not optimistic but would do whatever I decide. Hefeels it works better for those with lower numbers and does not believe it would yield better quality eggs. We did only get 3 follies withtraditional IVF and there was 2 follies with femara when I did an IUI last year. He's not done a mini but would so give it a shot if it'swhat I want to do. If I really want to do a mini should I consult a doc that does them? I'm not even sure if it's what I want to do. I'mnot normally so indecisive. I want the quickest route to a baby but am also not 100% comfortable with DE. That's a HUGE decision! I havebeen weighing this decision back and forth for weeks and am no closer to a decision. Ugh!
TTC #1 since 2/10 Me 38 FSH 12.9 & AMH 0.16
DH 47, low sperm count due to meds.
07/11 We have sperm! 28 million, 70% motility, morphology 1% normal.
08/14/11 1st IUI unmedicated BFN.
09/11/11 2nd IUI w/ Femara + trigger BFN
10/14/11 trigger & Final IUI 10/16/11 BFN
10/21/11 Started acupuncture and loving it!
01/21 ET one embryo 6 cell grade C. Beta 02/02. BFN. Taking a much needed break.
I would do a mini IVF. What about another traditional IVF? What are your doctor's thoughts about that? If I were in your shoes I think I would exhaust all possibilities before DE. And then do that if all else fails.
Me: 44 DH: 42.
DS born healthy at 40 weeks 8/24/09.
TTC since then with no luck or ART.
Surprise BFP 8/6/14... MMC @ 8 weeks 4 days... Miss you everyday sweet baby angel.
If you want to do mini IVF, I would go to someone who specializes in it. You don't want to be the guinea pig for this guy to learn on. It is too emotional, too expensive etc for them to be "guessing" how to handle the cycle..
No one decides that DE is right for them immediately. It is a process and usually akes way longer than a few weeks. It is a topic that most people never have to think about.

I agree with pp-- I would exhaust everything before I went the DE route. (Of course, my sister has said that she would even carry a baby for me, so I'm guessing she'd consider being a donor-- so I think that if I went the DE route without my sister's involvement, I'd REALLY REALLY want to exhaust all other options first.)
As for choosing a doc to do a mini IVF? My first instinct is to agree with pp-- it's expensive, emotional, etc. and you want someone who is experienced. But, if you feel comfortable and trust your current doc, that may be worth more to you in the long run. Only you can know that...
Good luck with your decision-- it sounds like you have a lot on your shoulders right now...
I think you should talk to another RE who does mini-IVF AND talk to an RE about DE, so that you feel like you are making an informed decision. Because, really, that's all you can do is absorb information to help you through a very emotional decision-making process. Good luck.

I know that I'm late responding. The deciding factor for me was one of time, because of my age. One thing about mini-IVF is that it may take multiple cycles.....some times a year or more, one cycle at a time. I would recommend that you at least consult with a RE that does a lot of mini-IVF. The way that we became confident with DE IVF was repeated failure with our OE. Eventually we just wanted a way that could get us to our goal the fastest with a healthy pregnancy. Find a lot of info and success stories at DE check in on Tuesday's on IF board.
