I just bought some pre-folds. & I also bought a few covers. I just want to make sure I have enough.

How many do you mamas use to be comfortable?

For newborn, I bought 2 dozen prefolds and 6 covers.  However, LO ended up being a frequent pee-er during growth spurts, so we had to buy another dozen prefolds.  We can go two days before he's pooped in all his covers, but I wouldn't mind getting a few more for wash day.

I bought 6 covers and I think that will be more than enough to get me through 24 hours, since I will be washing every day during the NB stage. I also plan on using the covers after the NB stage, as well though.

We have 5 covers in each size and that was enough with one child. Now that I have two kids I wash less frequently (every 3-4 days) and I also like to have them stashed in more places (one in the car, one in our bedroom for middle of the night changes since the kids share a room etc etc). I wish we had more like 8 of each size, but I doubt we'll buy more now. Oh, and we also have a few AIOs that we got for cheap that I use on wash days so I can wash all the covers.

I'm aiming for 30 prefolds in size one and two (each) and 8 covers. We're getting OS covers though. If you're getting sized ones, I'd get 6-8 of the first two sizes

You'll need 30-36 PFs and 3-6 covers depending on how you use the PFs. I suggest starting with 2 NB sized cover and 2 xs size covers to start (assuming you are using NB PFs).

We had 36 prefolds and 6 covers and I think it was a perfect amount. We never ran out earlier than I wanted to do laundry (every 2.5 or 3 days).

We don't use prefolds or fitteds as much now, but when we did, 4 covers was plenty.

Thanks, ladies! I'm all set on the prefolds. I just needed to see how many covers. I think I'm going to start with the 5 I have & see how it works from there.
