Covers Question

DH and I can't come to an agreement on cloth vs. disposables so we are going to do disposables right away and I am going to get some prefolds/covers and maybe a couple fitteds to try during my maternity leave.

 Which covers do you recommend?  Someone is selling Bummis super snap wraps (Small) and Thirsties prowrap covers (Small) for a cheap price, but I am wondering if those are good covers or if I should look for another specific kind.

If you were just picking one cover, I would start with a Thirsties XS, which is 6-12ish pounds if you are starting right away.  They get consistently very good reviews and aren't too tiny. If the ones you mention are super cheap, you could still look at buying them, but they won't fit very well right away.  Good luck!  Oh and you might also look at a couple all in one (AIO) or pocket diapers in the small size as they are generally more "dad friendly."

I have some BG AIO xs as well and I'll definitely pick up a couple of other brands/sizes.  I'm just confused on covers since it looks like Thirsties and Bummis both have multiple styles of covers and I don't really know the difference!

We aren't going to CD immediately so I'm debating on how many xs sizes to get.

We started CD at about 2-3 weeks of age.  My son was 7lb 11 oz at birth ( I don't remember how much he weighed when we put him in cloth). I only had sm sized bummi's super whisper wraps for covers and they were fine.  PF are kind of bulky on a new babe and they kind of filled out the covers.

I prefer cover with double gussets, especially for the NB runny poo stage.  Thirsties xs or small or Bummis superbrite small covers are what I would recommend for you.

I didn't start cloth diapering until my son was almost 4 months so I'm not sure about the early stages. However, I'm using Blueberry covers and am very happy with them. At this point he tends to have one or two big blowouts a day and I like that Blueberry covers have internal leg gussets. That combined with the pre-fold keeps him from getting it all over.
