I've always heard that you are very fertile after giving birth, but that it can take a while for AF to come back into town, especially if you breastfeed. Is it even possible to get pregnant before she makes her wonderful arrival?
Women ovulate before they get their period so yes it is very possible to get pregnant before your period arrives. Also it is a myth that breast feeding is a form of birth control!
Yes you can get pregnant before AF makes her come back. I know the hospital I go to recommends no sex for the first 6 weeks after delivery and they recommend using another form of BC besides breastfeeding lol DH and I will resort to condoms and tracking my cycle via Fertility Friend.
Yes, I only had about two visits from AF between DS1 and DS2, and I didn't have one at all between DS2 and this one. It was VERY easy to get pregnant shortly after having children, from my own experience. Good luck if that is what you're hoping for !I love my three being close in age (even though number three has yet to make his appearance)!
Re: Dumb Question About PP Fertility
Yes, after your PP bleeding stops, you will/should ovulate before your first 'real' post-partum period. If you ovulate, you can get pregnant.
Although breastfeeding can keep your period and ovulation away longer, it's not a reliable method of birth control.
