It supposed to be so nice in the high 60's the next few days so I was thinking of taking M to the zoo! Did you LO love seeing all the animals? Or could they care less?
No, but I'd love to! My LO is very interested in animals and loves to watch shows & read books about them, so I think she would love it. If you go, I'll be interested to hear how LO likes it!
We went last weekend! I went to a smaller zoo, so not a lot of animals. His favorite was the chickens and peacocks that were roaming freely. I'd say go for it!
B's been twice. He's wayy more into watching the humans than the other animals, but he still likes it. We haven't gone to the children's zoo or petting area because our zoo gets crazy crowded and it's just not worth the aggravation for me to fight the crowds.
But the rodeo is going to start soon and I can't wait to take him to see all the FFA animals.
Yes, but not recently. We took him to the aquarium last spring, then to the zoo over the summer & then to the zoo again at Christmastime for a lights display at night. With the last time, I'd say that unless the animals were really up close, it was hard for DS to realize what we were pointing at to try & show him.
We went to a small zoo over the summer. DH said, "Isn't he too young for the zoo?" and I said, "Kind of...but I love it!" Ha! So the zoo was more for me. I think it was hard for him to see things from the stroller. I took him out to show him animals at the petting zoo and he was excited to see the horses, sheep, etc. We'll go again this summer and I'll bet he'll appreciate things more.
DS loves the zoo and the aquarium. He's only been to both once but he had such a good time at both of them. We didn't do the petting zoo because I'm a germ freak lol

We've been to the zoo a ton of times and DD loves it! Our last trip was actually this afternoon. Every Wednesday the zoo is free and not too far from us, so we totally take advantage of that and DD seems to really enjoy it. I too don't let her touch the animals as well. I'm a germaphobe as well and being DD puts her hands in her mouth all the time, I'll let her touch them when she is old enough to wash her hands.

Totally jealous of that! We don't live near a zoo and when we do go, it's $10 to $12 each. I would probably go ever week if we lived close and it was free.
In answer to the OP, we have been to 3 different zoos, plus SeaWorld, and while he wasn't super excited, he certainly wasn't uninterested. The most recent was just a couple weeks ago when we were in San Antonio (zoo & SeaWorld) and he seemed to enjoy it much more. He would point and make his little noise that I take to mean "what's that?". It was cute. And he really like watching the shows at SeaWorld, especially the whale one where they would jump and splash. I definitely recommend going to the zoo!
We have gone to the Zoo many times- we have a membership. The last time I took them ( in January- yes it was 50 in Chicago!) they were much more aware and interested in the animals- plus there were not the crowds during the warmer weekends.

Do you go to Brookfield or Lincoln Park? We have a membership at Brookfield. We haven't been since the fall, but we went at least once a week last year. I'm hoping Ava will be more into it now that she's walking and more observant!
We haven't yet, but I am eagerly waiting a nice day when we can take him. We took him to the aquarium for his birthday and he loved it. I think DS would love the zoo too.
