What would it be? It doesn't have to be realistic either. Mine(one of many) would be that every car come equipped with a breathalyzer and if you don't pass, it doesn't start. I know they have it for people who have already been charged with drinking and driving but maybe just make cars with it already installed anyway. I know it wouldn't bug me to do it before I start my car everyday. And go!
Re: If you could create a law..
That is a good one!
I also like the breathalyzer one.
I would make it a law for anyone who does any goverment assistance programs WIC, Cash Aid, Food Stamps that they have to take drug test every month! I am sorry but so many of them look like crack heads!
I like the ones I see so far
I have totally thought of this EXACT idea!!! Seriously. Want to go into business together?
I'm sorry but that was really uncalled for. There are women on this board who receive assistance and are certainly not crack heads. Also...who pays for these drug tests? Have you seen the results when that happened in Florida? The state had to refund money to all those who passed. 98% passed.
WIC is to make sure that infants receive proper nutrition. I have no problem with a baby of a crack head getting this benefit. They've already got enough problems to start their life.
I did not say all of the people where crack heads Cobra. I understand some people do need assistance men and women but I have friends/relatives whom work in these facilities that tell me it is so sad when you see some of these men/women come in there asking for help but they look like they are strained out on drugs and some who have children and you can see they don't care for them. I personally if needed the assistance would be more than glad to pee in a cup.
When you ask who pays for the drug test we do the taxpayer just like we the taxpayer pay for these programs which are suppose to help people but I think does get taken advantage of.
I mean let's just say a man in his 30's is filing for cash aid but is on a abusive substance do you think he should get that cash aid?
Do you have an article to the one in Florida I am curious to read it.
Yes, some people do abuse the system, there is no way around that, but there are a hell of a lot more people who don't. It's not a solution in any way shape or form because it is not random drug testing anyway, a drug addict could very simply get clean in time for their drug test, get their benefits and run off into the sunset with their food stamp card.
Also your response to taking away children who reside with drug addicts is not a solution either, just another way to waste money.
It's wrong and unconstitutional and perpetuates the idea that those on welfare are more likely to be on drugs.

That is just one article, if you search there are plenty more.
One of the preschools I work at is government assisted, and the parents pay no tuition, nor are they permitted to send their children snacks or lunch, just to eat what is provided. Many of these parents smoke or use illicit drugs all while receiving government assistance. They also come in touting their Coach purses. Meanwhile, I'm going to have to struggle to send my kid to preschool every month because I have the gusto to work <--NOT FAIR
I would like to add that this preschool, because it is government assisted, has very ODD rules, such as, the children should not be expected to sit "criss cross applesauce," and that retention of letter sounds are both not age appropriate. WHA??? That's what happens when a bunch of bureaucrats get a hold of education.
Another wrong assumption, many people on assistance do work and not all of them have Coach purses. Is this like when you see someone at Wal-mart pay in food stamps but drive away in an Escalade? Give me a break!
to get this convo back on track....
I agree with the breathalizer law and I would raise the alcohol age to 21 like in the states. 19 is young and it can be dangerous.

I didn't assume and I didn't say all. I said many of of the families in this particular program. I'm okay with government assistance if people need it, just not the people who take advantage of it. I was referring to people taking drugs while taking government checks that help pay for it, indirectly.
Agreed. I think it becomes this mystery and everyone wants to do it. If it were more accepted at a younger age, I don't think we'd have so many people trying to sneak it and going on benders when they finally hit the legal age. I don't think drunk driving related deaths are nearly as high in places like Europe where they kids are able to drink very young. It'd be something to look into. I'm not sure our culture could handle it, though. Kids seem to be getting dumber by the day. I know this, working with far too many idiot college students on a daily basis.
