3rd Trimester

Daycare sucks!

The daycare situation around here sucks.  Every place I have called but 1 wants weekly payments and I only need 2-3 days a week.  I do not want DD in daycare more than that, because it's unnecessary, but no matter what I do have to go back to work.  I would give anything to be a SAHM, I am jealous of those who can swing it lol.  Anybody else have bad luck with daycare?

Re: Daycare sucks!

  • Most daycares in CT require 5 days per week for infants (under 1 year) as they don't want crib sharing.  That being said, we're still having a beyotch of a time because there are no facilities with availability in April.  Our first and second choices told us the earliest we could get in was July.  Looks like we'll use our third choice for the first couple of months and then switch him over.

  • that sounds totally normal to me... i don't know of any places in my town that take children less than fulltime, other than a few churches that do drop-in, mom's-day-off kind of care.
  • The only places by us that had daily rates were in home daycares.  We have to pay for 5 days even though we only need 4 at our center as they don't want infants sharing beds.  Honestly it makes a lot of sense to not have infants sharing beds.

When she is in the toddler room we can switch her to part time.

  • Since infant care is hard to come by, most offer only weekly care. When they are toddlers usually a place starts to offer part time. Sorry!
