Hi, I'm a FTM, baby boy is due June 12th. I have read all kinds of info about CDing and I feel like until I see some (which is nearly impossible as none of the stores near me carry them) and actually use them I won't know what I like and until baby is here I won't know what works for us. Would a diaper trial be the way to go with a newborn? Am I understanding correctly that they send you several different kinds, you use them and decide what you like and send back what you don't? and what site would you recommend for a diaper trial? TIA!
Re: diaper trial
The trials are usually for 30 days or so. I did the Jilliansdrawers.com diaper trial and loved it. They were very helpful and the diapers were beautiful. When I opened the box I was like "OH! I get it now!" LOL I waited until DD was 2 mo. old and 12 lbs. So it was a whole different selection of diapers from what a newborn trial would be. I haven't CD'd a newborn yet.
FWIW At the end of the trial I sent back everything except one cover that I loved (Imse Vimse) and a snappi. Then I went to diaperswappers.com and hyenacart.com's Spot's Corner and purchased used versions of what I liked along with a few other things. I never purchased any other brand new diapers. Vastly more affordable.
I did the newborn trial from Jillians Drawers and liked it. It's 13 diapers, so I rounded out my stash with about 24 other prefolds, and a couple extra fitteds, and a couple covers. I had plenty! I ended up keeping all the diapers because I liked them and was too lazy to send them back and look for cheaper. The do send you a couple that might not fit right away though, but most of them do.
And yes, you can do a rental as well, but I am not sure where or how that works. I have a friend who is doing that starting in March.
Thanks ladies
I'm thinking a diaper trial will be the way to go!
