IVF Plans Attain vs ARC

Anyone deal with either of these 2 plans for IVF? I can choose between them for shared risk/multi cycle plans & just wondering if anyone has any experience with either? Just looking for some pros/cons. At 1st glance, Attain seems to be better because there is a package with included ICSI..

Re: IVF Plans Attain vs ARC

  • Ticker warning I applied for and chose between two kinds of attain plans. I also still have the detailed contracts for multicycle and money back plans. I had icsi put on mine as well. In the end, I decided to go with the multicycle over the money back after doing cost calculations. Pros for me with attain: I had no surprise costs. I did not pay extra for betas or extended blast culture and freezing. Cons: I spent more money than a single cycle cost. But the "insurance" of the multicycle plan allowed me to conservatively transfer 1 embryo. Which I view as a pro. Also I am above the usual attain age limit, but it was lifted to 40 at my specific clinic as they have good success rates with us AMA ladies. I think a given clinic is associated with attain or arc but not both. I chose my clinic before deciding on attain. I would not have switched clinics just for the plan though. Eta pardon the lack of formatting iPhone is acting up.

    IVF #1 ET 1 d3 embryo 10/30/11 BFP
    3 Embryos frozen (1 d5, 2 d6)

    DS born 07/29/12

    FET #1 ET 1 d5 embryo 02/10/15 BFN

    FET #2 1 d6 embryo didn't survive thaw, transferred last d6. CP :(

  • I got pricing from ARC and it wasn't good.  They wanted just over $22K for 2 fresh  & 2 FET cycles and it would only be $22K directly through my clinic.  I didn't see the point.  That was at my previous clinic.  I didn't even check into it at my new clinic.

    Good luck with your decision!

After more than 2 years of fertility treatments, FET did the trick!
IVF March 2012 - BFP! - Severe OHSS = 8 days in the hospital in kidney failure
    No heartbeat at 10w6d
    FET August 27,2012 = BFP!
    It's a boy!

  • ARC is the only set of plans available at our clinic (other than just paying the clinic). We paid about 20K for 2fresh / 2 frozen cycles. At our clinic that would cost about 30K. We had no embryos to freeze, so we have only used the two fresh cycles. Basically, we paid almost exactly the same as we would have handing our money straight to the clinic, but we were able to finance the plan at a low interest rate, so that we can pay over time instead of needing all of the cash immediately. We plan to pay it off well in advance of the 2 year term, but it has been a lot more comfortable, not to have to have a few more months to pay for the cycles.

  • Thanks guys. After further review, I think ARC is the plan to go with.

Gen-yes that is the cost for 2 fres/2 frozen for me as well, but the cost for a single plan will be16K for me, so this seems like a great deal to me just for the assurance.

Also, it may allow us to only transfer 1 as well. I hate these decisions though. So scary!
