Baby Detergent

Are you washing all your baby's clothes and blankets in baby detergent before they use or wear them? I've heard you should and then also that it really doesn't matter. What's your imput?

Re: Baby Detergent

  • We went with Tide free and clear.  No perfumes or dyes...and cheaper than Dreft.

  • You do not need the baby detergent, I just wash with regular detergent and put it on the extra rinse cycle.
  • I've heard any free and clear is good. Dreft is loaded with perfumes.
  • Baby detergents are a scam. Just use free & clear detergent, free from dyes and fregrences. I recomend All Free & Clear 3x.  It's so much cheeper and works the same if not better!

  • The pedi said to just use the free and clear detergent.  We already use the Tide Free and Clear so we'll just stick to that.  Pedi also said not to use dryer sheets or fabric softner on your clothes or babies clothes in case they have sensitive skin.

    i did the same.?

  • I would wash everything, but you don't need to use baby detergent.  We always use Tide Free anyway and that's what I've always used for DD's clothes and what I plan to do for new DD #2.
  • I am washing everything before DS comes.  I have always been finicky about that though.  Any new clothes for me, DH or DS get washed before we wear them, so this baby will not be any different.
  • We use free and clear detergent and crunchy clean...and sometimes vinegar on the rinse for "fabric softener"
  • For the girls that use Crunchy Clean, are yours scented? I figured since she uses essential oils that it's ok for baby stuff but now I wonder if that was dumb to assume.
  • I haven't heard anything good about Dreft.  We're using a free & clear detergent on all baby items.
  • I wash everything before it's used. They treat all fabrics with chemicals to help preserve the color. We're using Tide Free & Clear HE with DS#2 only b/c Dreft doesn't make an HE formula. I'm gonna miss that smell!!!
  • I started using Ivory Snow.My mom reminded me about it and I remember loving the smell. It's not as perfumy as Dreft, just pure clean. Not to mention not as expensive. So I will just use that for all of our family's laundry.
