question about induction..

I was so caught up asking all the "important" questions about what to expect when I'm induced Wednesday that I forgot to ask how late it would be ok for me to eat? I'm going in at 4am, and he said we'll get things started around 5am. Do you think I'd be ok to eat a quick breakfast before we head in? Or should I stop eating around dinner the night before? I want to eat as late as possible, but I also want to avoid the potential nausea (as much as I can). TIA!

  • It might depend on your dr's policy- I ate lunch before my induction and was OKed to eat crackers and drink juice during labor.

After 2 1/2 years TTC, 3 IUI's, endo, and a lap, a surprise BFP brought us Alexandra Marie!

  • I'm still going to drink my small cup of morning coffee- I'll swig it black, but I was just thinking it would be he'll to go through the morning without it! They let me have water and ice chips with ds.
  • I would try to call and double check. When I was induced with DD, DH and I went out to dinner around 6, then headed to the hospital at 9 to have cervadil placed. I know my doctor had mentioned "the rules" would be different if I went in the next am and started right away with the pit.

  • I ate the whole time i was being induced. After I got the epidural I was not allowed to eat anymore. I would eat before you go in, you don't want to be weak.
  • I was told to eat before I go to hospital b/c once I'm there I won't be able to eat.

  • Im being induced on Wednesday also and was told to eat breakfast because I may not have the chance to once I get there. I am getting to the hospital at 6am. Im sure it depends on each doctors policy
  • Do you know if you're starting with cervadil first or going right to pitocin?  I ate dinner and then went in around 8pm and got the cervadil.  I didn't start having contractions until the middle of the night.
