We introduced the sippy cup when we started solids, but DD isn't really into it. On a good day, she'll drink maybe .5 oz of water. On average, she eats 2 oz of cereal + 1 oz of veggie or fruit per day. Not a lot, but I definitely expected it to be enough to make her to drink more water by now.
So out of curiosity, how much water does your LO drink?
Re: Does your LO drink water?
Yes, he drinks maybe a few ounces a day. Our pedi recommended Super Baby Foods book for a guideline on solids and it suggests that once they begin with solids that they need a little water to help flush the kidneys. We started by just putting a little water in his spoon but now he drinks out of his sippy cup. He loves drinking from my water jug even more than his sippy.

My life has a superb cast but I can't figure out the plot.
No water here. Pedi didn't say anything about it, and I didn't ask. P won't take a bottle, or a sippy cup, and refuses all the solids we have tried.
anything more than BM is just for fun and practice right now for DS. When I drink water and am holding him he always wants a sip, so I'll give it to him - and b/c he likes this I've gotten out a sippy cup for him to drink water from on occasion. It's not much at all, and not daily.
My Pedi doesn't really think we need to worry too much about getting DS anything more than BM until in between 9-12 months, so I'm pretty relaxed about introducing new things right now.
This. I put a couple oz in but I don't think she's ever gotten anything. She chews on the sippy instead of sucking.
