3rd Trimester

Braxton Hicks -all day

Hi-

I am almost 32 weeks and for the past two days have been getting Braxton Hicks for the past few days ALL day long - I onlt have max 3 an hour but they last the whole day.  They don't seem to be increasing in strength and while at times it seems they come every half hour but they are not timeable and/or increasing in strengh.  I do get some light cramping during the BH but I have no increase in discharge/bleeding/constant cramping.  I also feel my little girl moving around all the time.  I called the doc and he said it was normal but to call back if I get more than 4 an hour, feel decreased fetal movement or an increase in cramping.

Is this happening to anyone else?  I thought the BH would just come and go but they seem to like to stick around.

  • I had the same thing.  It seemed as soon as I hit 28 weeks, Mr Braxton moved right in.  I would get them a lot, esp at work.  If I would sit down and relax they seemed to slow down more, also when I laid in bed on my side.  They seemed to more prevlant when I was up moving, bending, pretty much being more active.  If you get to concerned just go to L&D, you wouldn't be the first person or the last.  As long as you have peace of mind about it, thats all that counts.  But it happens, my sister hardly had any, my friend had a bunch and went full term, and now Im at 38 and still getting them.  As long as they aren't getting closer together or increasing with pain your fine.

  • I remember having them around where you are-- they lasted for about 3 days and then stopped.  Turned out that DD was flipping from breech to head down and it was causing some minor contraction-like pains.

Yup, happened to me.  My OB was not concerned.  I found upping my water intake to way more than the recommended minimum made a difference.  People say around 100 ounces, and that really does seem to be a good goal to shoot for if you want to get the BH to slow down/stop.  It worked for me until I started getting way closer to term.

    This!

  • My doctor recommend lying on my left side to get them to stop. I only seem to get them when walking a lot and never where I can lie down.
  • With ds from about 32 weeks on I had constant bh. Around 37 weeks they were tunable every evening but ds still didn't come until 40 weeks 4 days. As long as your dr isn't worried you shouldn't be.
