RP from TTTC: Question about Progesterone

I doubt this is possible but wanted to see what you all thought...my p4 both pregnancies was very high at my first and second beta. I think my RE said that it was so high that it didn't even register with the lab who drew it (not RE lab, my local lab) I think it was like over 40 or something, I don't remember. Anyway, Ive been very paranoid about it because since my REs office is so far away (2 hours) Ive never had it checked by them and it was only checked for 1st and 2nd betas. My question: is it possible to have a very high p4 at the beginning but somehow have a sudden drop, causing m/c? or is there only a progesterone problem if it starts out low?  Maybe the cp cyst breaking down too soon?  Also, I'm wondering if p4 should be monitored for longer than just the initial betas? I don't think I've had the p4 checked at the time of m/c....

TIA!

Re: RP from TTTC: Question about Progesterone

  • Hmm -- I don't have an answer but I just wanted to say my RE doesn't even monitor P4 for betas, just the HCG.  Are you on PIO or suppositories?  If not maybe you could have them add that to ease your mind?

  • I'm not pregnant (i've had two losses) yet but I'm just trying to gather information for when we start follistim again. I asked my RE about adding either PIO or suppositories next time I get pg but he said it wasn't necessary since my p4 was so high when they drew the betas.
