Opinions pls: White nursery furniture

We told my parents last night that we're expecting.  They were thrilled.  We had a ton of different baby related conversations.  I mentioned that we were thinking of getting white nursery furniture (crib, dresser...etc).  My mom said "What if it's a boy?"  I said we'd still get white - she dropped it really quickly, but it seemed like she thought white was only for girls.  I hadn't thought about white as related to one specific gender. 

What do you think?

i had a white crib and changing table for ds.  i see nothing wrong with it personally   we even bought him a white toddler bed.  do what you want!!!

This!  There's a lot you can do with white.  I am totally envisioning a nautical theme...but that was my 2nd runner up idea with this LO, so I am projecting!

I think white is fine for a boy or a girl.  White furniture is nice because it is easier to match other furniture (dresser, changing table) without having to purchase it in a set.  Many of the other colors come in variations where it is hard to get an exact match.

We're doing white furniture as well. I think it will look great with a boy or girl theme!

We bought white for our 1st baby (DD) and loved it.  I actually fell in love with the crib at the store and it had bedding for a boy in it.  I think white is beautiful for a boy or girl!!!

do what you want!  i think we're going to go for a darker finish but that's just us.  congrats!

we are team green and our nursery furniture is white I love white for either gender, I prefer it to the dark espresso colours I love the light feeling!!

I think its crisp and gender nuetral.  Look in my bio   Nautical isn't girly etc.  My nursery is just preppy if I had to name it.

My sister had white furniture for both of her boys. I think of it as a clean slate to be able to go boy or girl!

White is a neutral, and definitely for either gender. Our boy room is blue with white bead board.

I love the idea of white furniture! In fact I'm pretty positive that we are going to go with white as well. It's beautiful, clean, and fresh. So pretty! And great for a boy or a girl!

We had white nursery furniture for DS because we got it through a friend and had no choice. The white-for-a-boy thing doesn't bother me, but I would argue against it because it is babyish and won't grow with him - when you go to buy him a twin bed it likely won't be white and you'll need a new dresser too at that point. If DS's furniture was a wood stain we could have replaced the bed without having to replace everything else too. And a bed is only like 3 years away, FYI.

Lurking in 1st tri from 2nd almost 3rd---We are team green and we went with white furniture.  The nursery is for YOU.  We liked white because matched our trim and was more calming then the wood for us.

I LOVE white furniture! Our bedroom set is white and we have an old dresser we are planning on painting white for the nursery, and a crib from my parents that we are also going to paint white. I just think it looks so clean, and is definitely gender neutral.
