Mommies of boys - need some help - worried

So, get LO home, he's in a good mood and all, go to change him to get ready for bed and I notice his boy parts are constricted, and smaller than usual.  He didn't let me really feel around - but that's normal.

I gave him a bath to see if that would help - it didn't. There's no hairs or anything around his parts ...all of them.

H is out, so I can't show him ...I sent him a text, he's worried.  Should I call the Dr ...I was trying to stay calm about it and just check it in the morning.

He is on antibiotics for a double ear infection, has had a rash on his bum from the AB's ....

Advice ...please...

Re: Mommies of boys - need some help - worried

  • I've not ever noticed this before so am probably not of much help.  I don't think it would hurt though to call the pedi's office.  Hope everything is okay and keep us updated.

  • I got nothing on this.  And I know I don't have a boy, but I have major kid experience from nannying.  I'm sorry, but I might call the after hours line & see what they say.
  • I think calling the after-hours line can't hurt.

  • If you are worried, then I would call. Also, LO just got over a yeast rash caused by antibiotics and that is nothing to play around with either - it gets REALLY bad in a hurry. I'd get that treated asap too. Poor baby!

I am not understanding the constricted thing. What do you mean? Is the penis in? Like in the skin? Can you see the testes? (Not trying to be TMI)

its all smaller and "tighter" than normal.  usually his stuff is loose and relaxed.

  • You could definitely call the pedi's office.  I'm pretty sure that looseness or tightness of the scrotum depends on body temerature, but it wouldn't be the entire area.  :(
I used to be a big deal.  Now I'm just old.
  • Hmm, I got nothing.  I'm not even sure I know what you mean.  I would call.

I've had J's testes do that before but it always goes back to normal later so I haven't thought much of it. I've never had the whole area do it though. If it did, I must have not noticed.

I would call the pedi if you and YH are both really worried

  • This happens to both of my boys if the wipes a little colder than normal, but it goes right back quickly after I wipe. If you are concerned I would call your pedi.

  • I fee like Jackson's penis changes all of the time these days :O)  I would probably give some Tylenol, put him to bed, then check tomorrow.  If it still looks suspect....I would call.  I wouldn't worry too much about it tonight :O)
