A DS1 story /something for you to look forward to

Last week, I took DS1 to his first Valentine Social. He always wears a tie and wanted to wear his "wedding vest" for our date. I was worried that he was going to be the only kid that was so dressed up but he always marches to the beat of his own drum. Then we got to the dance and saw that his little group of friends were all wearing ties and two also had vests on. I thought " oh, cute" and was then approached by two of the other children's parents who told me that their kids told them that they needed to dress up and wear a special wedding outfit because Jorge told them that it was a special date. Then the one mom told me that her little boy Lcomes home and tells her each time that Jorge has a new tie and she said that he says all excited "He has like a million!" I almost started crying right there.

The group of boys hung out all night, took pictures together, danced together, and ran away from a girl who was trying to kiss all of the boys. All that I could think of was "oh my gosh, it's a preview of his prom".

Watching him play with his friends and seem so grown up was amazing. All evening, kids kept coming up to him to tell him that they liked his tie or his shirt and he was so happy. Being able to watch my "special needs" child hang out and be the cool kid with his friends makes me tear up every time I think about it.
