What are they?
I only have one boy name that I like, but it seems to show up a lot these days (or maybe I'm imagining it?). It happens to be my mother's maiden name, so it's personal to us, but I'm just wondering which boy names come right to mind as overused right now?
I'm a Katie and there were always at least one or two others in every class I ever attended...
Re: Popular Boy Names
Maybe if you told us the actual name you plan on using we can tell you how many of them we know...
But if popularity doesn't bother you - then go for it. I had a top 10 name and even though 3 of us stand when the name is called - there are worst things in the world you can do to a kid.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

It's Jackson. Like I said before, it's my mother's maiden name, she's one of seven, and only one of her brothers had a son, so it's personal to us. We'd call him Jack, and I really don't feel connected to any other boy names right now...
Jackson isn't on this list! But everyone who responded so far said it right away. LOL
Ugh- that one is pretty much the worst, after the -adens, anyway. I know 400 Jackson/Jaxson/Jaxons right now. Name him Jack, or skip it entirely. imo.

It's a family name, so if I name him Jackson, I'm going with Jackson. I've wanted to go with it forever, but the popularity is bumming me out. I'm not trendy... Just sentimental.
I totally get this. We named our DD after my great-aunt and it's super popular/trendy right now. It's also always mixed up with Isabella, which makes it even worse. I feel I always need to add "but she's named after family" when I introduce her to new people. Or correct people that it's just "Isabel."
The hazards of using a popular name, I guess!
Since the name clearly has meaning to you and you've wanted to use it for a long time, I would totally use it. (I would have used it myself if it didn't sound so ridiculous with my last name and there are very very few popular / trendy names that I even considered.)
Jackson/ Jack
Benjamin
Ethan
Grayson
Henry
William
Michael
Noah
Aidan/Aiden
Andrew
If you love it, use it.
But think about how the popularity of the name will make YOU or your child feel, not how other people feel about popular names. If it bothers you, it will be something that comes up a lot. You will meet a lot of other Jacks and Jacksons, so if that is going to grate on you, don't use it.
IMO, picking a name just because it isn't trendy is, ironically, what is trendy right now. People are dead-set against using popular names, but to me it is more important to use something that you love and that means something to you. So if Jackson is it, then use it. The only thing that matters is how you will feel and how your child will feel with that name.
And as a Kate, you know how you feel about popular names. Personally, I like Jackson a lot and I love Jack. Hate Jaxon or Jaxyn, but that's another post.
Me too. I don't know any little kids named Daniel or Anthony or Christopher. I would think it was refreshing to meet a little David. Jackson and all of its variants on the other hand is so tired. I even know dogs named Jackson.
A little late but thought I'd add my opinion! If you like the name and it has sentimental meaning I say use it! We used Mason to honor my dad who passed away 2 yrs before DS was born ( my dad was a stone mason). Although it was becoming trendy the meaning behind it was most important to me. Luckily the name is not very popular around here!
I think Jackson and especially jack is super cute!
