The only one I can get behind is Dante. Why the need for the apostrophe? I'm not sure how that would change the pronunciation and it would just be confusing.

I think Dante - no apostrophe - is a decent, strong name for a boy. (If you were intending an accent mark, I'd do without that too.) I'm not a fan of Kailani.
I like both names. Kailani is less popular, so I would lean towards it. If you go with Dante, lose the apostrophe. How is he going to put that on a test sheet when he has to bubble in his name on a standardized test?
1) I have only ever heard Kailani as a girl's name and middle school kids will crucify a boy with that name.
2) Apostrophes and accent marks are not the same thing. There is no place for an apostrophe in a name because an apostrophe's job is to take the place of another letter. For example, in the word "don't," the apostrophe takes the place of the letter "o" in "not" of do not. If you want to put an accent mark on the e in Dante, then fine, I suppose you can do that, but PLEASE OH PLEASE do not use an apostrophe. Accent marks go on top of letters and change the pronunciation and/or stressed syllable. They are used in names, particularly french names, all the time. Apostrophes....not so much.
Dant? is the only way to go in this case.

Hawaiian professional surfer Kalani Robb is the only time I have ever heard this name. His full name is Maikalani, it means from the heavens or heavenly (adding mai on the beginning just changes the meaning slightly).

I put the "apostrophe" ONLY because as im typing i DO NOT see and accent! i do know the difference between an ACCENT AND APOSTROPHE so please please DO NOT TRY TO INSULT ME!!! of course when i hand write the name there would be no "apostrophe" but an accent!!!!
Re: Help me decide....
Kailani sounds feminine to me. It's NMS, but I would go with Dante out of the two.
Edit: I like Kai better than the two names you have.
I know a little girl named Kailani, It's an ok name.
I love Dante for a boy. without the ( ' ).
Out of the two I like Kailani, it sounds Hawaiin to me (not that its a bad thing!)
Im not a fan of Donte' or Dante'..and I really dont like or understand the apostrophe
I'm not a fan of Kailani (and I would look at it and think Kay-lon-ee). I've never seen Donte, but I like Dante. I think the apostrophe is not needed.
Wait. I just realized Kailani is supposed to be a boys name. I thought it was a girls. It sounds really feminine.
Dante (no apostrophe) is NMS, but not a bad name.
Kailani is really feminine to me.
This.
I like Kai for a boy, though.

I know a girl (actually about 20) named Kailani. All girl to me.
Dante is NMS, but fine.
I would go with Dante.
Wasn't Keilani the name of the Hawaiian American Girl of the year last year?
