3rd Trimester

Headache for 2 wks straight

Ive had a headache for two weeks straight now. I have been on Nifedepine for 8 wks and have had zero side effects so I dont think it is that. I went to see a new dr in the town I live in as my primary is in the city-and though I love him, Ive been on mod bedrest so have not been able to go there.

This new dr said if once I go off the meds I still have it I should do an MRI. Im wondering if anyone has had one while preg. Also, no sure I should wait in case serious.

  • I was having daily headaches too.  I went to the chiropractor and my hips and neck were out.  After getting adjusted I felt SO MUCH BETTER.  I don't know about getting adjusted while on bedrest but it might be something to ask about or look into.

  •    Staying very well hydrated helps a TON! I upped my water once I started getting serious headaches (around 25 weeks). Once I started drinking more, my headaches were very infrequent and not as bad. Just a thought...  Best of luck to you! :)
  • I have no advice, but I am sorry - headaches suck!

  • Early in my pg, I was getting daily headaches and was having to take Tylenol every day (not sure if you are taking pain relievers). My midwife recommended just having some daily caffeine (ie a cup of tea) instead of the tylenol and my headaches completely stopped. You may have tried this already though. I also second seeing a chiropractor.

  • ditto!  I was NEVER a caffeine drinker before this kiddo, but I had terrible headaches.  The doctor suggested a small amount of caffeine instead of tylenol and it worked amazing.  Just a small 8oz can of coke fixes it every time.

I have a friend who is a neurologist and she explained that the caffeine helps with the constriction in the blood vessels that can come with pregnancy.
