DH and I *thought* we had our girl name picked out...like for the last 4 years! Anyways that has apparently changed. So now we have come down to 2 names that we both like and agree on, only problem? We can't decide which we like better! What are your ladies thoughts on these?
1. Avery
2. Lindy
Our thinking was that we wanted something short (our last name is longer), and we wanted something different but not too different. However now that we are looking Avery seems to be a much popular name then we thought. So any opinions?
Re: Girl Name Help?
Sorry I never thought Avery was a very pretty name and its crazy popularity puzzles me. But I have to say I prefer it to Lindy.. I would have loved Lindsay though!
Shorter names I like- Wren, Tess, Liv/Livia, Isla, Sloane, Arden, Sera, Vera, Maren
Is Lindy a Charles Lindbergh reference? Since your handle is "Airman's Wife" I can only assume your husband is a pilot?
If so, it's a cute tribute to his profession, but Lucky Lindy was a Nazi sympathizer and a lot of people (myself included) think he killed his son. Not exactly someone I'd name my kid after.
I take all of that out of the equation if you just like the name Lindy, however.

You're right that Avery is getting mega popular. However, I agree with all of PP's comments about using Charles Lindbergh as a namesake - I wouldn't.
What about Linden NN Lindy? Or maybe just Lynn?
Airman is a general reference, like Soldier or Marine. Everyone in the Air Force, from and E-0 just out of basic training to the top general is an Airman, with a capital "A".
That being said, to the OP, I really like Avery and like a PP said, all names come around in popularity, so go with what you like. I love my DD's name, and thought it wasn't "too" popular when we picked it. Then we went to the birth class and it was a top contender for a few other couples and we've met several others with the name. It doesn't mean it doesn't fit my DD any less or that I love it any less, just means it's an awesome name!
Avery is a boy name.
I like Lindy, It's my Dr.s name.
