Forgive me if this has already been discussed, but I was just wondering if anyone has decided on a theme for your LO's first birthday? I was thinking a yellow and white daisy theme, but I'm wondering if that is considered "summery" or "springy". What do you all think? I'd love to hear other ideas out there. Thanks!
Re: 1st birthday themes
I think daisies can be spring-y or Summer-y. Depends on what you pair them with: bright colours for a Summer touch, pastels for a Spring feel.
As for us, we're actually going to be on a fishing trip with my family on DD2's birthday, so I guess the theme will be "Family fishing trip" lol
I like that idea. Daisies are one of my favorite flowers. : )
We are doing a pool party. I will have a baby pool (barely any water), a toddler pool (more water), and a 'big kid' pool (lots of water). Can't wait!
I think that's a cute idea... as the PP said, I think you can make it "summer-y" by doing brighter colors with it.
As for myself, I have not thought about a theme at all, lol. Honestly, I haven't thought about her 1st birthday party once. Off the top of my head, I think cupcakes, watermelon (a summer staple), pink and green, any kind of flower theme, and ladybugs would all be cute for my LO.
1stwishes.com is an awesome site. I used them for DS's 1st : Guess WHOOOO's 1 with Owls was our theme, we love owls and it suited us well, plus our highchair is owls so it even matched. I ordered a kit there, and then supplemented with solid colored extras, we did a tent in the backyard with over 100 people (180 was invited).
For kid tables I did Gerber Mixes for a party mix with: wagon wheels, puffs, cheese curls and cookies all by Gerber. The mommies and kids alike loved it, because it was better then the adult mixes on the other tables.
Cool site! thanks for the tip

I think we are doing stripes and polka dots theme. We are going to rent a picnic spot in a local park that has built in water toys for the kids to pump and make spray water. We will hang lots of tissue pompoms from the shade over the picnic spot to dress it up since DD loved those at my friend's baby shower.
We will have some activities for some older kids since I think there will be at least a few, but mostly it will be a family BBQ with a few of our friends.
my parents have a pool so i was thinking of a mermaid theme. i found a super cute invitation online with cartoon baby mermaids and a cute cake idea i really like. all DD#2's "friends" (aka mostly family) will be older but i'll probably have a kiddie pool out in addition to the regular pool.
DD#1's birthday in april is another story. she'll be 3 so she'll actually get a say in her theme. i havent nailed her down to a specific one yet (since she's 2) but i'll have to convince her of something soon!
I haven't really been on TB since I was pregnant but I decided to jump back on recently. I was always more of a lurker back than and only sparatically posted but none the less, I'm excited to be back!
We were just putting together ideas for his 1st last night and I'm torn on Dr. Seuss or Sesame Street. Leaning a little more towards Sesame Street. It's the end of August in Florida and we don't have a pool, but I still need to incorporate some water activites for the kids. TIme to start planning!
