DS is 17 months. He was a late teether and didn't get his first tooth until 13 months but now they are all coming a once. About a month ago, he started getting REALLY cranky and clingy. He cut his top two molars and we had a couple days respite but it's started up again. Nights aren't too bad but I generally end up having to give him Advil almost every night because he is so cranky and uncomfortable. Days are horrible. He cries constantly and the littlest thing sets him off, like me leaving the room. Mornings are better than afternoons but after his nap...... Holy cow he is a disaster. He just screams and the only thing that makes him stop is cuddling on the couch watching Backyardigans (horrible I know!) I took him to the doctor to rule out an ear infection as he had a cold about a week ago. He's all clear, so I'm assuming it's the molars. My first son was not like this at all. Has anyone else gone through this? How long will it last? Any tips? Thanks so much!
Re: We are in molar hell. How long will this last?
DD's molars came in early (around 10 / 11 months) - our ped was VERY surprised to see them since she doesn't even have all her incisors yet. She's not a very crabby girl in general, but she gets crabby for about a week with each molar. Luckily a little tylenol seems to help (not all the time, just once in a while when it seems like the pain is not letting her sleep). It seems like once the tips break through, even though there's still gum covering the middle, she's ok with it.
Good luck! Just remember 'This too will pass'.
Awhile. And then come the canines. Canines were worse than molars for us.
Good luck! Mwahahaha (evil laugh).
j/k.
