Baby allergies

Can infants have allergies? Can my baby be allergic to dogs? our dogs sleep in our room, and LO has red goopy eyes and congestion (clear mucus). She never acts sick and it comes and goes. Off to the doc today, but last time he told me this "is typical for Colorado babies." Hmmm, we sleep with humidifier, baby propped, etc., but lastnight she woke up CHOKING on mucus... like A TON.

I asked about this (allergies to dogs, DD doesn't have any symptoms) & the ped told us that allergies do not show up until after a year, with the exception of milk protein issues.  She also said that since we had the dogs while I was pregnant DD has a very small chance of being allergic.  She said pet allergies normally happen in kids that are not exposed to animals at a young age.
