2nd Trimester

not motivated to workout!

anyone sles just not motivated tow ork out? I keep reading/hearing that it is important/helpful to workout during pregnancy at least 30 minutes a day!  I find that I get motivated on a Monday and then don't do anything the rest of the week because I'm too tired/lazy after work.  I do walk my dog on nice days..but it's only about a mile long..so not 30 minutes...I just bought 2 pregnancy workout dvds online and hope maybe I can start doing them in the morning when I have more energy..any suggestions??? I also have a gym membership and go maybe once a week at this point..I like zumba..but it's getting tiring!

Re: not motivated to workout!

  • Guilty!!

This is probably a stretch but I consider my cooking and cleaning as exercise. In fact, since I count it as exercise I actually do it more often.

  • I feel the need to workout too, but I'm soo tired after work.. I feel like I'm fighting a losing battle..The more the pregnancy drags on the more tired I get.

  • I know - I feel the same way. Where's this energy I'm supposed to have during the 2nd trimester???? lol I had a group of friends over for a demonstration and I was in bed the following day almost all day I was so tired!

  • Right there with you. I used to work out 6 days a week before I got pregnant. Now, I'm lucky if I get three days in. And I don't have the excuse of being tired after work either...I'm not working. I'm trying to really boost myself here.

  • Yes ma'am! Definitely for the past 2.5 weeks... I've never liked the gym (I like to be active but much prefer to do it as part of an actual activity - not running in place on a treadmill or lifting dumbells), but I've been pretty good about forcing myself to go regularly for the past 2ish years. I even managed to get a few good weeks out of the 2nd tri, but lately I just. can't. do. it... It doesn't help that our house is on a REALLY long and windey (sp?) road so it's literally impossible to go for a walk unless I drive somewhere to walk first. I do try to go on walks when I'm on campus, but of course those don't happen every day. I really just wish that DH and I had more of an active lifestyle overall so I wouldn't have to worry so much about purposeful exercise.

  • I have little motivation too...sometimes I just put on music and dance around. That counts!
