2nd Trimester

Barely avoided a car accident today, a bit worried about cramping

Today a ridiculous pile of happened in front of me with 4 people all rear ending each other. I was able to stop INCHES from being the 5th car .. I SLAMMED on my breaks and of course my seat belt tightened super hard and fast around the belly. Thankfully no collision .. phew.

Anyways I have had slight cramping , trying not to worry or stress about it. Baby is moving around normally and kicking away. Would anyone else feel the need to call doctor about this? I hate overreacting!

  • I hate overreacting, but I'd tell my doc just to be on the safe side.

  • can't hurt to discuss w/ your dr - that's their job.  They may want to do a u/s.

  • yeah, I think I will call in the morning just to be extra careful.
  • Call the Dr...they might want to do an u/s to see if the placenta is still ok. I fell down the stairs a few weeks back, I was ok more did a baseball slide on my side down them...nothing hit front or back & no bleeding or anything but they just wanted to make sure about that. I didn't really mind I got to see Keely again =) Even got some 3d pictures this time =) Hope all is well & they give you the all clear!

  • You could call your doctor just to be on the safe side & for piece of mind, too of course. :)

Just a little story to hopefully make you feel a little better.  When I was 21 weeks pregnant with my DS, someone tried to beat me across five lanes of traffic & I slammed into the back passenger side of their truck. Luckily I was wearing my seat belt...which I always do.  I was having a lot of cramping/contractions on & off and had to be monitored in the L&D unit.  Long story short, everything was PERFECTLY fine with my baby & placenta, etc.  :)  Baby is so super cushioned in there.

Like others have said, just give the doc a call & see what he/she says.  I'm sure everything is just fine, though. :)

  • I actually did have a car accident on Jan 24, but I was hit on the driver's side (got a little bit of my door and she nailed my wheel).  I called my OB and they were able to get me in for an u/s that afternoon.  I didn't have any bleeding or cramping, largely because it was a side impact and the seatbelt didn't really tighten around my stomach (relatively low impact but about $14,500 of damage to my 1 year old car).  Seeing your LO on an u/s and being checked out is always a good idea after something like that- if for no other reason than to give you peace of mind.

  • I went last night to the ER because I started to worry , my little guy was fine, but my doctor told me to stay off my feet today and drink lots of water just to be on the safe side .. :) I still hate that feeling of uneasiness!
