Hi Ladies,
thanks for all the support...for those of you who don't know - we found out that we are having twins yesterday (still need to change siggy)....but they called back in the afternoon and told me my progesterone was low (about 8 and it was 16 two weeks ago)....now I'm on endometrin and prometrium and scared to death for next week's appt.
I just wondered - is it normal for the docs to check progesterone at about 7 weeks? It seemed like more of an afterthought for my doc (glad she did though)....Is it normal to see progesterone drops? What's more important as a measure of health - that I had two strong heartbeats or that the progesterone was dropping? And finally - now that I've started the supplementation - what is the chance that I will still lose them?
Thanks in advance for all your answers - everyone here seems to know so much. I google a lot but get really vague answers....
Re: Low progesterone success stories?
P4 ranges for first tri are 9-47. So your 8.8 is not terrible. Yes, it dropped, but it does not in any way mean that you will or are miscarrying!!!!!!!!!
Stay on your P4 supps and get blood work checked weekly until at least 8 weeks and stay on the supps until at least 12 wks.
My p4 levels went from 16 to 12 to 10 to 14 to 18 over the course of 4 weeks and my RE was never, ever concerned. I was concerned, but I learned to calm down and let it be. I stayed on supps until 14 weeks by choice....RE wanted me to stop at 8 weeks.
Don't expect your bloodwork p4 levels to double over a week -- p4 supps are not absorbed into the bloodstream, but directly into the uterus.
