Cloth Diapering

Flip Potty Trainers? Good for 16 mth old?

I'm considering making the switch from disposables to cloth for my oldest so we don't have to be buying disposables for two babies at the same time (his little sister is due in May!).

I'm thinking of trying BumGenius AIO's or these Flip Potty Trainer diapers with inserts ( https://www.flipdiapers.com/fliptrainerintro.php). The Flips seem less bulky and I like that they can be used pull-up style as well as snapped on and off.

Any advice on which would be best for a toddler? I'm thinking of making the switch slowly over the next couple of months to spread out the cost a bit (maybe start with 2-4 cloth diapers to see if we like it).

  • My son is three and in the flips at night.  They dont hold a ton of wetness unless you double up the inserts.  He is also 30lbs and they are almost too big around the waist.

IMO unless your toddler is interested in potty training I would do a true diaper.  They are more adjustable and absorbent to actually hold all the wetness.
