DS is refusing to nap. He'll play in his crib (today for 2.5 hours) and be calm and happy but refuses to fall asleep. I know he's tired. He rubs his eyes, he's cranky and tantrums but will not sleep.
Is this common when children learn new physical skills?
DS just started crawling about 2 weeks ago and is starting to explore more (he's finally crawling out of the living room). Could it just be the explosion of physical skills (in the past 12 weeks he's learned to sit, then army crawl and now crawl on his hands and knees).
Last night he slept from 10-7 with 1 wake up so it's not like he's sleeping 14 hours a night.
Re: Ugh, he won't nap question
I'm guessing that it's just an "off day" for him. And probably due in part to his new (fun!) physical skills. Both of my LOs gave up napping shortly after 2 years old, which is pretty young, and even then they'd be hit and miss for a few months before giving it up entirely. It can be a rough transition, that's for sure.
Try to keep things calm for the rest of the day, and he may need to be in bed earlier tonight, but hopefully tomorrow things'll be back to normal! Good luck!
My son goes through periods where he doesn't want to sleep at night and he'll take super short naps. Could he be teething too? Normally when DS goes through it he's either teething or about to have some major milestone breakthrough. Lucky for us last week was both - he got his first molar and he started walking just this morning!
