Disney World/Orlando with kids under 5?

I remember seeing many of you have been to Disney with young kids already.  A friend is going for 4 nights 5 days and has 3 kids under 5.  Should they just do Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom or are there other good attractions for the LOs?  Also, is there anything they should make reservations for ahead of time?  They are not into the princesses at all.

  • Ds loved Hollywood (Disney) Studios too- Toy Story ride was fun, except you need a fast pass for that. Ds loved Honey I Shrunk The Kids, Disney Live, and the back lot tour. Plus there are a bunch of characters on the street and parades that Ds was all about. But we spent 2 days at Magic Kingdom bc he loved it so much! We also ate dinner at Epcot almost every night and there was a bunch of stuff for Ds to ride. We ate in Mexico one night where they have gondola rides with the 3 Amigos and we rode that like 6 times while we waited for our foid- Ds loved it. And there was a bunch of street performers at Epcot too. Even though I went with my ILs, it was my best vacation ever  bc Ds enjoyed it so much :)

  • My DS loves all 4 of the Disney parks. There is the most to do at magic kingdom, but the other parks have attractions for little ones too. We spend most our time at MK and EPCOT. I find animal kingdom and hs to be shorter days because there is not as much to do.

  • Seaworld has a great kids play area and the younger kids usually love the shows.  If they want to go swimming then Aquatica is a fun waterpark for everyone.

If they're willing to drive 45 minutes they could go to Legoland, which is geared toward those younger kids and it's brand new.

Downtown Disney in itself is a lot of fun to check out, but there is a DisneyQuest inside which can be good fun for the younger kids during the day with simulation rides and arcade games.

however long the night, dawn will break.

  • Direct them over to the msg boards on www.disboards.com  Loads of useful info there.

I think they should aim for all 4 parks, there are lots to do in each one that a young child will still enjoy.

Re: dining reservations.  If they are going to want to do a sit down, table service restaurant, than yes, they should make Advanced Dining Reservations.  They will be able to make them starting 180 days before their trip.  Reservations fill up and, most of the year, it is very difficult to just walk up to a table service restaurant.  Better safe than sorry.

Direct them here as well:  https://www.easywdw.com/

  • We hated Animal Kingdom. I think Epcot is a much better idea but of course this is just my opinion.  If they want to do any character dinners or sit down dinner in the parks, reservations are a good idea.  I suggest taking a day off in between parks. The Boardwalk is a great place to go early evening for dinner and to see "street performers".   You can also take a short boat ride around...my kid loved that!  We loved the Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue so I always recommend that.

Direct her to this website www.allears.net She will find all sorts of great info.

FWIW, I was never a fan of Disney until I took my small child.  We loved it so much with her the first time (at 18 months) that we went back less than a yr later.  We are going back in the spring, with both girls,  and really can't wait!

We went last month with Charlotte, and it was the best out of all of our Disney trips. We are already planning another trip for December or January!!
