Mommy's new body... I need help shopping

Where did you shop after you had your baby?  I'm finding everything is too tight in the tummy (like I'm preggo and just starting to show) or has no shape and makes it look like I'm wearing a sack.  I don't really want to have to wear a shaper every day.

Suggestions as to brands that are friendly to a new mommy's changed body type?

I wish I could return to work wearing sweats and pjs, but I'm not sure how great that would go over with the boss.

What clothing brands have you had luck with?

  • Jeans with a lot of elastic in them! Not an elastic band, just in the fabric. I just bought a pair from Target, their Merona brand, that are super dark and boot cut. I think they were fit 4's. Also, leggings and flowing/looser fitting tops are working well for me right now.

  • For work I'm still wearing maternity pants until I can fit back into my 'fat clothes'. Usually, it's about 3 months post partum. Otherwise, I'm hanging out in sweats & pjs ;) I try to be very forgiving with myself for the first year after baby. I have a small wardrobe of inbetween clothes. Mainly this stuff was purchased at sears in the apostrophe brand.

  • I just discovered a brand called West Bound at Dillard's.  Their dress pants are AMAZING.  A friend (also a mommy) told me about them.  They look like regular pants but they have the stretchy waist band...but they don't look dorky.  I bought a pair of khakis and a pair of trouser jeans.  Not only are they super comfy but they help with the muffin top issue.
