I'm not opposed to getting LO vaccinated, but there are SO many now that I feel are unnecessary, and I know there are always risks. Which Vaccinations did you get/ absolutely not get? TIA

We didn't get the HepB at the hospital. We didn't feel it was necessary. We have been discussing our options with the pediatrician and she has been super understanding and helpful. I had a bad reaction to a vaccine when I was little and it left my arm basically paralyzed for 24 hours. Granted, I'm okay now, but a reaction like that is just ridiculous. So, we are doing all kinds of research on each vaccine. We are also not fond of the fact that they have a couple where there's like 4 different ones all in one shot. I would really rather LO get stuck a couple more times than have a huge concoction of stuff injected all at once. We talked to the health department and they do have each one separate, so we are thinking about going that route. There are tons of options out there. Just do your research and don't let anyone scare you into getting a certain one. At the end of the day it's your child and your decision. You have to decide for yourself what is best for your child.
I'm not going out of my way to get unnecessary vaccinations, but I will be getting all the recommended vaccinations. I chose to do so because I consider the low side effect possibility worth protecting him from a preventable, potentially serious disease. That, however, is just my informed decision. If you feel better passing on vaccinations or asking they be more spread out, that's your choice to make. I'd suggest doing some research from reputable sources to help you make your decision. You'll get lots of different opinions here about it that'll make your head spin.
Hey sweets - hope you are doing ok. Check out Dr Sears book about vaccinations. I think it is a really balanced and reasonable source for information - not too far on either side of the argument.

My family is a Foreign Service family. Families like mine are posted in every corner of the globe. We live our lives away from family, friends and the conviences and comforts of home. We often live and work in dangerous places among those that misunderstand our intentions and purposes. Sometimes members of our ranks sacrifice our lives to further diplomacy. Please remember that we serve too. And I'm always open to questions.
