Babies: 0 - 3 Months

what do I need for baby clothing?

I am really at a loss as to what this kiddo is going to wear once it gets here.  I had my shower, but we are team green so I didn't get a lot of clothes.

I mostly have short sleeved onesies, a few long and short sleeved side snap shirts, a couple long sleeved gowns, a couple of footed sleepers, and a couple pairs of pants.

I can't help but look at the clothes I have and the time I have left and panic a little because I don't know what I need.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I feel like such a noob!

FWIW, I live in TX and it's in the 50-70s right now and we keep our house at 68.

  • You are going to get soooo many clothes when the baby is born, I would not worry about it.  Especially since you are team green, everyone is going to buy you either blue or pink baby things!  You have enough to start with!

  • So, a onesie and a blanket are fine?

  • I would make sure you have about 5-6 footed sleepers and probably the same number of onesies (long sleeve with the cuffs). PP is right, you are going to get a ton of clothes once the baby is here. Oh, and make sure you have several little newborn hats to keep their little head warm and cozy.

  • My mom couldn't get to Carters fast enough to bring dd a new wardrobe at the hospital once we had her and found out she was a girl.  Even my dad went out and picked out a couple things.  I'm sure you'll get gifts once the baby is born.  If  not, it's a good excuse to go shopping!  In fact, I have hardly bought dd any clothes because she got lots when she was born in NB size, then at Christmas she was given a whole 0-3 month wardrobe.

I'd have some onesies, some footed sleepers, and the sleep gowns or sleep sacks are nice too.  Oh, and teeny tiny socks and maybe a hat or two since they need help keeping their head warm that early on.

  • I absolutely love the long sleeved footed sleepers that I have!  We use those more than anything. I like her in long sleeves (we keep the house 69 or 70)

  • Our baby is 6 weeks old and I would say I didn't buy enough zip up footed PJs.  She lives in them!  If I am just running a quick errand that's what she's in too.  I don't care if people think I'm lazy for leaving her in them either.  I had lots of stuff with snaps and hated it.  Took too much time to match all the snaps back up.  I would have a few cute outfits but not too many since they outgrow them so fast.  We went to a birthday party tonight and LO wore pants and a cute onesie.  If you go to church, have stuff for that too if you want it.
