From what I understand they use the "ss" for sniper scout but um, not one person pointed out that this was maybe the wrong flag to use? You would think that people, such as men and women in the military would have some sort of schooling run down of what certain symbols mean, no?

I honestly don't know that I've ever seen that "logo", so I would not assume the average marine would, however, whoever ok'd the flag should have known.

Based on the shenanigans in the overall military and among DH's sailors, I often wonder if some of them had any schooling at all.

This makes me sad.  That symbol is probably the second most recognizable symbol of the Nazi party. 

I would assume that the military offers some courses in basic military history and WWII would play a pretty major part in those courses.

TBH I think this is being blown of proportion.  I don't know what SS flag most people are used to but the logo on this flag doesn't look anything like an SS flag to me. Yes, the "S" on the left is correct the the duplicate "S" next to it is absolutely not the same as on an SS flag.

I can't see the picture but since people seemed to think it was close, I did a little googling.  I admit, I didn't know about the other flag.  I was only familiar with this one so I guess you can add me (embarrassed) to the folks who wouldn't know the flag the marines used was offensive.

I definitely think it's too close, but I either have never seen it before or ever noticed it.  If I saw the flag posted with the marines above, I would not think twice about it.  BUT, I'm fully admitting I have no military background and obviously was not taught well enough about WWII in school. I should know that that symbol is offensive, but I didn't.
