Babies: 0 - 3 Months

It has to get better right???

DS is 6 weeks tomorrow and has totally regressed in sleeping. We were doing a solid 6-7 hours a night and then last week he started getting up every.single.hour. This week he is at least giving us 2-3 hour intervals but still. He's also eating almost every 2 hours again. And to top it off, he has terrible dry skin on his face. We went to the pedi on Tuesday and he thinks it may have something to do with either reflux or having a reaction to my dairy intake- I bf (which I'm now on a dairy free diet until we see if that's the reason for him being so miserable). I'm so exhausted and feel helpless since we don't know why he is so upset. Please tell me it gets better and that this possibly could just be a growth spurt??? I need to know there is a light at the end of the tunnel

  • I know it is hard when you are going through it but it does get better.  My DS is 2 months and in just the last few weeks it has been a lot easier.  He is starting to show me his schedule and I am getting used to having a baby to care for at all times.

  • It will get better.  DS is 10 weeks and if BF so we have about 2 bottles a night still but my body has gotten use to it.  He got sick and has been since last Thursday and I have basically had to start all over.  Just give it time.  Six weeks is their growth spurt time.  Hang in there

  • I'm right there with you. My DS is 8 weeks but up all the freaking time at night. My first son STTN at 6 weeks. Sigh. I know it gets better from experience, but this is harder than I remember. Hang in there, he won't stay this age forever. My older son is almost 2 and easy and fun. Inevitably it gets a lot easier!

  • Every month is easier and more fun than the last. When I have tough days with ds, I just can look at dd and have that to look forward to. Hang in there, you have the worst behind you!
  • You will believe no one when they tell you it gets better, but it does.  I believe you can help it along.  Once they are a bit older, around 3-4 months.  I suggest reading Baby Whisperer, Healthy Sleep Habits Healthy Child, and Baby Wise.  Oh, and the Sleep Lady.  I took bits and pieces from each one and it has helped amazingly!

But.  You have to put in your time first with their erratic sleep patterns.

    Hang in there.
