Membrane sweep & a toddler

I can't remember how painful the membrane stripping was during or after with my last pregnancy so I'm not sure if I'll regret having it done today when I have to come home to a toddler. Should I expect to be really crampy and not feeling well? I'm really not looking forward to having it done, but I had a horrible induction last time and I'd love to avoid it this time. TIA!

I remember that with DD, I had 2 sweeps. The first one was painful because I tensed up.  The second one wasn't bad because I made a point to relax.  I was a little crampy and spotting after both, but it wasn't terrible.

You'll probably be able to care for your toddler just fine. It might just end up being a "bring books to mama and I'll read them to you!" type of day.

I know it's really rough for some women, but mine didn't really hurt afterwards (or all that much during, either).  I was definitely able to take care of my toddler at home.  Like PP said, just make sure you're relaxed.  Of course, if it actually induces labor, it might be a different story.

I had it with DS and it was not uncomfortable (the procedure itself) just a deeper internal exam.  It did the trick for me..I was 5 days late and scheduled to be induced 2 days later...I delivered the same day he stripped my membranes.  I had light pink blood the first time I peed, that is it...and crampy but not bad (like BH's)...but then by 6:30-7:00 pm contractions started coming (not consistent) and at 8:53 p.m. DS was born about 20 min after getting to my hospital room!

It seems like it's different for everyone, but I just had it done on Wed and it wasn't any worse than a deep internal. I was crampy after but it didn't stop me from doing laundry and cleaning later in the day. I did bleed quite a bit immediately after and have since lost my mucous plug, but I haven't gone into labour yet...
