Caroline came home on Saturday! We are so darn happy to have her home. She is just thriving at home (6 lb 9 oz on Friday, almost 7 lb on Monday at pedi!) and we are showering her with love, as I'm sure you all can imagine!
She got diagnosed with a small umbilical hernia the day before discharge but the pedi isn't concerned. She came home on 1/4L of O2 and an apnea monitor, but Mommy & Daddy are learning how to work around it and are hopeful that we'll be losing it quickly. We had our final ROP check-up today and her ophthamologist said she has "some of the most gorgeous retinas" she's seen on a 39 weeker! YAY!
I am so proud of her for all she's been through. The 70 days we spent in the NICU challenged our faith, our strength, our hope, our marriage, our nerves, and our hearts but we survived and we are finally home as a family and its the best feeling in the world!
Mamas with babies still in the NICU, just hang in there. Your time is coming, I promise! I sobbed the whole way home, telling my husband that there was a small part of me that thought she'd NEVER come home, but I was wrong!
Thanks for all your thoughts & support,
Angela
