Toddler sitting at the table - booster, Tripp Trapp or similar?

I'm starting to wonder if it would be good to get a second high chair that Connor can easily climb into himself like the Tripp Trapp, Svan, or similar (since they have the foot rest/step and are height adjustable).

We'll have to get something since we have our second baby on the way and I don't see him being able to safely get into a booster seat attached to a chair on his own. I'm just worried that a booster would be a waste of money because by the time he's big enough to use it as an actual booster at the table we'll still need to be lifting him in and out of it.

  • I don't let A climb into his Tripp Trapp alone but we love it nonethless. Sure, its more expensive than a booster but it also has a much longer usability window.

  • I've been watching craigslist for a Tripp Trapp myself. We have friends with older kids who are still using them, and even adults can sit in them. Worth the extra $$$ IMO. Plus they actually look like real chairs and will look good at your table- bonus.

Oh yea it would definitely be getting into his chair with supervision until he's much older. I'd be more worried about him trying to get into a booster/chair combo on his own than the Stokke though.

My child climbs up into our regular dining chairs on his own whether we like it or not! We turn our back for 2 seconds, he's in a chair, smiling big like he's so proud of himself for being such a big boy. I've just let this one go. Choose your battles I guess.

  • We held off on buying another high chair and i'm glad we did. By the time Aaron was ready to use a high chair, he was 6 months old, and Connor was able to use a booster seat and climb into it himself (we even have pub style dining room chairs and he did just fine.) Aaron used the bumbo for quite a while before we transitioned into the high chair.
