This baby feels big.... definitely larger than I would expect for a 1.5-2lb baby at 26 weeks. I havent gained that much (maybe 13 lbs? I stopped looking about a week ago), but I feel enormous. Anyone have gd after a normal, non-gd pregnancy? All I know is that I was "negative" for gd with the first two. I'm now wondering how close it was... and if another 4/5 years in age could affect it.......I have the test in 2 weeks, but I wish it were sooner.
Re: anyone else worried they have gd and don't know it yet?
DS was 5lbs 14oz at 34 weeks when he was born, he was the biggest in the NICU. I'm worried of how big he could have gotten.
I still have 20lbs from him and PCOS (partly insulin resistant) and that worries me as far as GD goes. It doesn't help that my diet has been mainly bad carbs (cereal and chips) for the first trimester. I'm nervous! But we'll see.
My Blog
I didn't have it during my first 2 pregnancies and gained 31 and 24 lbs. respectively (starting at around 138lbs. and 5'8"). I was "borderline" GD during my 3rd and gained 16 lbs. (due to the dietary restrictions). I'm waiting to find out this time around. My eating habits have changed a lot and I started at an even lower weight because I maintained the low carb lifestyle, but age is a factor all on its own so it very well could be that I have it (again). Time and the test will tell.
I will say that I felt no difference between GD and non-GD pregnancies and think the only reason I developed it was my age. Whether or not you're worried, you can always make small, healthy changes now: decrease/eliminate sugar intake, get rid of juice, soda, refined grains (white bread, crackers, baked goods in general) and replace them with more green veggies and protein. Can't hurt, no matter the outcome of your test.
