Ear infection after tubes?

My DS had ear tubes inserted last month and this morning he had blood tinged drainage from his ear (which explains his crankiness for the past 2 days). The ENT nurse said it's an infection and to give him drops for 10 days. I know tubes can't guarantee no more infections, but I am shocked he got one soon soon. I'm really bummed! Anyone else go through this?

This happened to my niece.  I think it was only 3-4 weeks after her tubes that she got another infection.  She's had her tubes for a year now and I think she may have had 2 or 3 total after tubes.

DD is having one as well (thanks, croup). I try to focus on the fact that at least the tubes are working (draining) so no hearing issues/pain or oral antibiotics

Our LO had them placed early Dec., he currently has his 2nd infection since tube placement.

These stories are making me sad!  We had tubes put in DS's ears last month and thought that was the end of ear infections.  I'm still hoping they work better for us.
