When does LO hold his own head up?

I know it's a developmental thing that happens later, but DH had DS sitting on his lap to burp him, and LO normally just hangs his head there patiently, but just now he lifted his head up and was actually turning it like he was looking around the room. I realize it's early to expect him to be able to do that regularly, but it was just so cute to see. Makes us wonder when he really *will* start to hold his head up on his own?

of course every baby is different however my baby girl held her head up pretty early. she was only a couple of weeks old and she was already lifting her head. she is 2.5 months now and can hold up her head all by herself in her bumpy

Depends on your baby really. DJ could do it from birth for a few minutes. My nephew could not until he was about a month old.

Like PP said every baby is different but DD does the same thing. When we burp her she holds her head up and turns it from side to side, and even when I try to lay her on my chest she also holds it up lol.

My DD has been doing that from birth (at first seconds, then minutes at a time). Now when she is up on the shoulder she rarely puts her head down (is now 3 months).

DD could lift and move hers from birth, but not for longer periods of time. She's getting better at it now.

every baby is different. My kids tend to do things early...and this LO is right in their footprints....She already has really good head control...she even had good head control for a newborn.
